Shared Choices
If you have several products that all have the same choice, a Shared Choice lets you create your option in one location and then assign it to all of those products at the same time. For example, if you sell 100 pairs of shoes that all come in sizes 5,6,7 and 8, you can create a Shared Choice and the options for sizes 5, 6, 7, and 8 will appear for all 100 pairs of shoes—rather than having the time consuming task of adding the choices individually for each of the 100 products.
Creating a Shared Choice
Start by creating the Shared Choice. You will then apply it to certain products.
Under Catalog go to Shared Choices.

Your shared choice options are Drop Down List, Radio Button List, Checkboxes, HTML Description and Text Input. We will go through the various options in detail in a minute. But let’s start by selecting a simple Drop Down List. Then click New.

You will now be on the Edit Shared Choice page. Give your choice a new name (For example: Hat Sizes). Then enter the options for the choices in the provided space below, clicking New after each choice. Click Save Changes when you’re done.
You will notice that you have several options on this page. We will look at them in more detail in a moment. First, let’s add these choices to a product and see what it looks like in the web store.
Adding a Shared Choice to a Product
Go to Products and choose a product. Let’s choose the Brown Fedora.

Then choose Choices:Edit from the left hand navigation bar. You will see a Drop Down List. Scroll down and you will see your choice under Shared Choices. In this case, we named it Hat Sizes. Choose Hat Sizes and click New.

You will now see your shared choice and the Drop Down List will display the product options: In this case, small, medium and large.

Click Go to Store. You will see your shared choice reflected on the Brown Fedora in the store.

To add this choice to more products, simply go through your products and repeat the process.
Shared Choice Options
Here are some options that you can choose when creating shared choices.
Hide Name on Store
If you select this option, the name of your choice will not be visible on your web store.

For example, here is the same picture of the Brown Fedora as above, with Hide Name on Store selected. You will notice that Hat Sizes is no longer visible. Only the drop down list with the hat sizes is displayed on the page.

Variants: This Choice Changes Inventory, Pictures, Prices and/or SKU
You might want to create variants for different sizes, colors, etc… of products. For example, if Hat Size Small is SKU 1234, Hat Size Medium might be SKU1234a.
To do this, start by clicking the This Choice Changes Inventory, Pictures, Prices and/or SKU checkbox. Then click Save Changes.

Go to the left hand navigation and choose Choices: Variants from the list. On the Choices: Variants page you can select the choices from the Drop Down List that you want to change. Choose Edit to make changes to a choice.
If you have a lot of variants, choose Create All Variants and they will all automatically be listed for you.

On the Edit Variant page you can now alter a product based on an option. You can change its SKU number and Price, and you can even upload another Image. (For example, you could upload images of shirts in various colors.)

Click Go to Store to see the changes reflected on your store. You can see that the small variant now has a cheaper price and altered SKU number.

Choice Items Options: Is a Label
Under Choice Options, you can click Edit to change the actual choice options. Let’s create a new Option called Hat Sizes and select Is a Label.

On the store side, you can see that Hat Sizes is now displayed in the Drop Down List. It is not a choice. It’s a label-there to show customers what they are selecting. In this case, they are selecting hat sizes.

Choice Items Options: Adjusting Price and Weight
You can also make a price and/or weight adjustment for an option. In this case the small hat costs $2.00 more than a medium or large but weighs $.50 less.
You can use the minus sign to subtract money or weight.
The change will be reflected on the price of the product when the customer makes the selection from the Drop Down List.

Types of Shared Choices
Drop Down Lists, Radio Button Lists and Checkboxes are standard.

There is currently not an option to select only one Checkbox.

An HTML Description allows you to add additional information.

A Text Input choice is good for options like Monograms. You can choose space for customers to enter in information. Options include Columns, Rows and Max Length in Characters.
