Quick Start: Assigning Products to Categories

Now that we have a product to sell and category for display we need to assign the product to the category. There are two ways to do this. 1) We can edit the product and choose which categories it belongs to or 2) We can edit the category and select which products belong to the category.

1)From the Catalog menu choose Products and then click on a product in the list to go to the Edit Product page. In the left column click on Categories and you will see a list of all categories with checkboxes next to each one. If you're product is assigned to a category, the checkbox will be checked. Simply check or uncheck which categories you'd like your product to display in and then click Save Changes.

2)From the Catalog menu choose Categories. From the list of categories click on the Edit button next to the category you wish to edit. In the top right column click the Select Products button. Any products already assigned to the category appear in the left column. The right column is used to search for products you wish to assign to the category. Enter your product's SKU number, name or another keyword in the search box on the right and press the Enter Key or Go button to start the search.

Below the search box you will see a list of products matching your criteria. Click the checkbox next to your product and click the « ADD button to assign it to the category.
